Vel Tech Institution has hostels for both boys and girls separately. Vel Tech give priority to the students from outside Chennai and various parts of our country. Institution we have 4 hostels for boys and 1 hostel for girls. These hostels together can accommodate around 1300 students.

The hostels are in great demand to meet the growing requirements. The food in the hostel tasty as well as hygienic, it is monitored by the Superintendent of the respective hostel. Vel Tech Engineering College - Origin & Growth

Veltech group of educational institutions was established in 1990 by a well known industrialist couple dedicated to public service. Dr.R.Rangarajan and Dr.R. Sakunthala Rangarajan, who by then had 30 years of experience in developing industries and international trade. What took off as a modest school now stands as a monument of glory for “Chennai city”. A student volume of above 12,000 throng the various educational institutions of VEL TECH group.

Veltech University has a well-stocked spacious library with books and journals of well-known authors and renowned publishing houses. The goal is to provide students with ample resources on the campus so that they can supplement their course work with additional information.

    While the syllabus caters to various industry trends, additional reading ensures that students stay ahead if their counterparts in other colleges and universities. Understanding this, exclusive libraries have been set up for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses.

 Audio and Video facilities are provided. For the convenience of the student, the library has a photocopier and a book Bank facility (SC/ST students). Many Engineering Journals like the journal of the Institution of Engineers( India) , IEEE Transactions journals, Microsoft System journal and advanced Journals in Engineering are available, Besides these, newspapers, magazines, career oriented publications, internet and e-journal facilities are also available.

     Postgraduate students have access to a modern library with high-end amenities including computers, photocopying machines and pictograph boards. The various titles have been carefully selected to suit higher levels of learning.  The Library subscribes to both national and International journals to keep the students updated. By his sheer perseverance, he rose from an engineer in TNEB to a towering industrialist and blossomed into a doyen among educationists. After graduating with honours in Electrical and Mechanical

Engineering, Col Dr. Vel R. Rangarajan earned a Masters in Automobile Engineering. After a short stint in TNEB he launched to manufacture spare parts for earthmovers and liners as an OEM to Ashok Leyland. He also manufactured rubber parts. Having emerged as a successful and prosperous industrialist, he felt the need to build a better India. Knowing very well that this is possible only by motivating the youth of today, he ventured into the educational sector.

       Schools, Universities and corporate organizations benefit from Virtual classrooms because it provides an excellent way for experts to teach a geographically dispersed group of students without hassle.

       In a cyber practicum, however, the teachers can meet a variety of students - whoever signed up from anywhere around the world.

       Each student has his or her own account, and the teacher can develop lessons targeting each student's needs.

       The cyber practicum supervisors review the lessons and the teachers revise them to address their suggestions.

       Being a premier institute, we have lectures by several senior professors and subject experts through NPTEL a archived lectures by professors from all Indian Institute of Technologies.

       Providing access to all archived lectures was proving to be a challenge and so we were looking for an Elearning solution that would provide benefits beyond the classroom environment.

       The archived classroom sessions are presented to the students via the Video Portal, a Web-based component of the Digital Media System that allows students to quickly browse, search and view digital media interactively.
